An industry-wide announcement was made the week of October 16 regarding a new vulnerability related specifically to wireless networking. It’s referred to as “KRACK,” which stands for, Key Reinstallation Attack.

This is not an issue with a particular piece of software or hardware, but is instead a flaw in the industry security standard used by all Wi-Fi devices.  Virtually all devices that use Wi-Fi, are vulnerable.

Due to the serious nature of this attack, we took immediate steps to push the patches from Microsoft to update the wireless drivers on client’s PCs and laptops.  In addition, we have updated all Virtual IT wireless access points to eliminate the potential problem.

Some vendors have noted that they are currently working to fix the vulnerabilities, but this fix could be weeks away.
